    1. Digital Twin Architecture & Modelling

    • Design and implement high‑fidelity simulation models of satellite subsystems (Avionics, Thermal, Power, GNC) using modern C++.
    • Ensure physical accuracy and real‑time performance in Functional Verification Environments (FVE).

    2. SimTG Framework Integration

    • Use the SimTG (Simulation Tool Generation) framework to build modular, reusable simulation environments.
    • Integrate subsystem models using SMP2 standards to create a consistent and interoperable simulation architecture.

    3. Software Development

    • Develop clean, maintainable and high‑performance C++ code for simulation models.
    • Contribute to Java‑based tooling for modelling workbenches (Eclipse/SimMF).

    4. Automation & Toolchain Development

    • Create Python scripts for:
    • automated test execution
    • simulation orchestration
    • complex data post‑processing and reporting

    5. Validation & Verification

    • Perform Software‑in‑the‑Loop (SiL) and Hardware‑in‑the‑Loop (HiL) testing.
    • Validate model behaviour against spacecraft physical and functional design specifications.

    6. Cross‑Functional Collaboration

    • Work closely with Systems Engineers, AIT teams, and Flight Software developers to identify and resolve interface inconsistencies across the satellite development lifecycle.

    Aufgaben

We are looking for a Satellite Simulation Engineer (m/f/d) for our client.

    Start: ASAP

    Duration: 6 months

    Workload: Full-time

Location: Friedrichshafen, remote working possible by arrangement

    Role Description:

We are looking for an experienced Satellite Simulation Engineer (Freelance) to support the development of high‑fidelity digital twins and virtual environments used for flight software validation, system‑level testing, and operator training for major satellite missions in Telecommunications, Earth Observation, and Science (e.g., ARIEL, VIGIL). The role focuses heavily on C++ modelling, SimTG/SMP2 integration, and system-level simulation engineering.

    Profil

    • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
    • Hands‑on experience with SimTG — absolute requirement.
    • Proven experience in satellite design, modelling, and simulation.
    • Expert‑level proficiency in modern C++ (performance‑critical modelling).
    • Strong skills in Python for automation and scripting.
    • Experience with Java, particularly for Eclipse‑based environments or SimMF.
    • Solid background working in Linux development environments.
    • Familiarity with SMP2 and/or ECSS simulation standards (highly desirable).
    • Experience with Git, Jenkins (CI/CD), Docker, and Agile processes (Jira/Confluence).
    • Fluency in English (primary working language). French or German is a plus.
    • Strong systems-thinking mindset — ability to understand subsystem interactions and overall spacecraft behaviour.
    • Self‑driven, structured, and capable of managing simulation workflows independently.
    • Ability to obtain National Security Clearance for sensitive or defence‑related missions.
