The Role

 

Are you passionate about making digital spaces welcoming for everyone? We're seeking a dynamic Accessibility Specialist to join one of our Federal Government clients and work closely with both business and technology professionals to craft digital solutions that are inclusive and user-friendly.

 

In this role, you'll leverage your expertise in design, user experience, and accessibility standards to ensure digital products align with the latest best practices and guidelines. Your mission will be to collaborate on creating accessible user experiences and conduct thorough assessments of digital solutions at various stages—whether they’re in development, testing, or live. You'll analyze findings, generate insightful reports, and assist developers in resolving any accessibility issues that arise.

 

You'll operate with a degree of autonomy under the guidance of senior team members, making informed decisions based on your expertise and managing multiple priorities effectively.

 

As a key member of the team, you'll offer strategic advice on accessibility and inclusive design while spearheading innovative solutions for our digital platforms. Your contributions will be crucial in shaping both customer and third-party applications, enhancing their accessibility and overall user experience.

 

 

Responsibilities

 

Champion Inclusivity: Work closely with business and tech teams to design and refine digital solutions that are both accessible and engaging. Your insights will ensure our designs meet the highest standards of Inclusive Design and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).

 

Assess and Improve: Conduct thorough accessibility assessments of digital products at various stages—whether in development, testing, or production. You'll provide actionable reports and collaborate with developers to resolve any issues.

 

Collaborate and Guide: Partner with user experience and design teams to ensure interfaces and interactions are user-friendly and compliant with accessibility standards.

 

Elevate Practices: Enhance the agency’s knowledge and capabilities in Inclusive Design and Accessibility by maintaining up-to-date practices and documentation.

 

 

Required Skills & Tools -

·      HTML/CSS (understanding)

·      Text to screen software: DRAGON

·      Screen reader software: NVDA, JAWS

·      Accessibility testing tools: WAVE

·      Axe DevTools

·      Colour Contrast Tools

·      JIRA / GitLab
