    Senior Business Analyst

    The Role

    We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Business Analyst (BA) with a strong background in process-driven methodologies and technology projects. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of experience in business and systems analysis, with formal training or certifications (e.g., BABOK). Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) is highly favorable, and experience working within Defence or Federal Government environments is highly desirable. Candidates must be Australian Citizens and hold (or be eligible to obtain) a Baseline or NV1 security clearance.

     

    This Contract position is based in Canberra, so the ideal candidate will either live in ACT, or be happy to commute for at least 3 days per week in the office. This is a long-term engagement which is likely to last beyond 12 months.

     

    Responsibilities

     

    Business and Systems Analysis

    • Lead the end-to-end analysis of business processes, identifying opportunities for improvement and streamlining workflows.
    • Collaborate with technical teams to analyze, design, and implement system solutions that meet business needs.
    • Ensure traceability between business requirements, functional specifications, and technical solutions.


    Process Optimization

    • Develop and document business process models, workflows, and standard operating procedures.
    • Identify inefficiencies in current processes and propose actionable solutions for optimization.
    • Ensure alignment between business processes and technology solutions.


    Stakeholder Engagement

    • Work closely with business stakeholders, project managers, and technical teams to gather, document, and prioritize requirements.
    • Facilitate workshops and discussions to elicit business and technical requirements.
    • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure alignment and clarity.


    Project Support

    • Contribute to the successful delivery of technology projects by providing detailed business and systems analysis.
    • Ensure requirements are well-defined, testable, and aligned with project objectives.
    • Support project teams through testing phases, ensuring requirements are met and issues are resolved promptly.


    Leadership and Mentorship

    • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior BAs, fostering skill development and knowledge sharing.
    • Advocate for best practices in business and systems analysis within the team.
    • Take a lead role in defining and improving BA methodologies and standards.


     

    Skills | Experience

     

    Business Analysis Expertise

    • At least 10 years of experience in business and systems analysis, with a proven ability to work on complex technology projects.
    • Strong understanding of business analysis frameworks and methodologies, including requirements gathering, gap analysis, and process mapping.
    • Formal training or certifications such as BABOK, CBAP, or equivalent.


    Technology Project Experience

    • Extensive experience working on technology-focused projects, particularly in system integration and process improvement.
    • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) is highly desirable.


    Sector Knowledge (Highly Desirable)

    • Experience working in Defence or Federal Government environments, with an understanding of complex approval processes and secure systems.


    Communication Skills

    • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts clearly.
    • Proven ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels, including executives and technical teams.


    Analytical and Problem-Solving Abilities

    • Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on delivering practical and scalable solutions.
    • Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements and ensure successful implementation.

     

     

     Clearance Requirements

    • Must be an Australian Citizen.
    • Hold a Baseline or NV1 clearance or have the ability to obtain one.
