Are you an experienced Infrastructure Engineer / Senior Desktop Engineer (SOE) with strong Linux expertise and a passion for delivering secure, standardised desktop environments?
We are working with a Federal Government client and are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to support the delivery of the Lyrebird platform as part of a major transition program. This role offers exposure to secure environments, automation-driven deployments, and collaboration within a highly specialised federal team.
Responsibilities:
• Build, install, configure, test, and maintain the Lyrebird Standard Operating Environment (SOE)
• Deploy SOE images to desktop devices using automation to standardise infrastructure and environments
• Troubleshoot technical issues and perform ongoing maintenance and software updates
• Provide technical support to end-users on desktop and SOE-related issues
• Work collaboratively with nominated government personnel under supervision
• Deliver knowledge and skills transfer to internal team members
• Maintain documentation and records in line with government policies and procedures
• Support secure desktop environments aligned to operational requirements
Skills and Experience Required:
• Strong experience with Linux desktop operating systems, particularly Debian-based distributions (e.g. Ubuntu)
• Proven experience configuring and supporting hardened desktop SOE environments
• Experience with SOE deployment automation and remote device management tools
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar Infrastructure or Senior Desktop Engineering role
• Formal ICT qualifications or equivalent demonstrated experience
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Self-motivated, proactive, and committed to achieving business outcomes
• Experience working in secure or government environments (highly regarded)
