About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer (Print Services) to manage the technical aspects of print services, including the configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of printers and Multi-Function Devices (MFDs) for a major Federal Government agency. This is a long-term contract role based in Canberra with a focus on maintaining and optimizing print services for both desktop and protected environments.
As part of the team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of print services, collaborating with vendors and stakeholders, and providing technical support. This is an exciting opportunity to work on large-scale print fleet management, device provisioning, and technical support in a government environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for printers and MFDs, ensuring smooth operation and quick resolution of issues.
- Liaise with fleet vendors to provide regular impression counts, manage fleet movements, and resolve any technical issues.
- Monitor and maintain print services in both desktop and protected enclave environments.
- Oversee the development, testing, certification, and deployment of new printer models, MFD capabilities, drivers, and software.
- Actively participate in the service desk operations, following ITIL processes and ensuring timely resolution of tasks.
- Manage tasks, job queues, and work autonomously to meet service level agreements.
- Collaborate with stakeholders within the agency and shared service clients to provide expert advice on printer and MFD-related matters.
Candidates with the following will be highly regarded:
- 2+ years of technical experience working with MFDs, printers, and associated print server components.
- 2+ years of experience with MFD and printer configuration and management utilities.
- Knowledge of ITIL processes, including Change and Incident Management.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to identify issues for escalation.
- Ability to research and make sound decisions based on policy, procedures, and guidelines, especially related to Cyber Security and Essential 8 controls.
- Basic experience in Group Policy Objects (GPO) management, whitelisting, and System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM).
- Familiarity with the Australian Signals Directorate Information Security Manual and security controls relevant to printer and MFD fleets.
