Role – IT Commercial & Licensing Specialist

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced IT Commercial & Licensing Specialist to join a high-performing Digital & Technology team. This role is responsible for managing end-to-end IT procurement, software licensing, vendor relationships, and commercial governance to ensure technology investments are cost-effective, compliant, and aligned with organisational strategy.

You will work closely with internal stakeholders, vendors, and leadership teams to optimise software assets, negotiate contracts, improve procurement processes, and drive commercial outcomes across the technology function.

Employment Type and Duration: 12 months Fixed term + extensions

Work Model: Hybrid

Location: Collingwood, Melbourne

Key Responsibilities

• Manage software asset inventory, licensing compliance, renewals, and lifecycle activities

• Lead end-to-end IT procurement activities including sourcing, negotiation, vendor selection, and contract management

• Develop and maintain strong vendor and supplier relationships across technology services

• Monitor vendor performance against SLAs, KPIs, and contractual obligations

• Identify opportunities for cost optimisation and improved commercial outcomes

• Conduct software compliance audits and mitigate licensing and contractual risks

• Collaborate with stakeholders to align procurement strategies with business and technology objectives

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across procurement and licensing processes

• Prepare reports, insights, and recommendations for senior leadership stakeholders

• Ensure procurement activities align with organisational policies, governance, and industry best practices

Required Skills & Experience

• Proven experience in IT procurement, software licensing, vendor management, or commercial management within technology environments

• Strong understanding of software asset management, licensing compliance, and contract negotiations

• Experience managing vendor relationships, commercial risks, and service delivery outcomes

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to interpret data and provide actionable insights

• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills with the ability to influence across all levels of the organisation

• Sound understanding of procurement frameworks, governance, and commercial best practices

• Ability to work autonomously while managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

• High attention to detail with strong organisational and reporting capabilities

·      Experience working with TechnologyOne (TechOne) ERP platforms or exposure to Local Government ERP environments will be highly regarded

Qualifications & Clearance

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, Supply Chain, Procurement, or related discipline

• Demonstrated experience in a similar IT commercial, procurement, or licensing role

• Relevant certifications in procurement, vendor management, or software asset management are highly regarded
