    Akkodis are currently recruiting a Java Developer for one of our major clients.

    Location – Brisbane (Toowong)

    We have a fantastic opportunity for multiple Java Developers with our Brisbane-based client through our Talent Development program.

    You don't need to have all the skills for the role initially—Akkodis will provide upskilling opportunities while you work with us!

     

    Role Overview

    A key Java development role, building out the best digital online experience for customers. You will be building out applications that allow customers to buy and manage their policies online. Also contributing to the development of internal applications used by colleagues to support the business operations.

     

    The position will involve developing highly available and reliable Java micro-services deployed on AWS that are business critical.

     

    Working in one of several cross functional agile teams, supported by a product owner and Scrum master. All software is delivered via agile teams and deployed via a modern DevOps/CI pipeline to AWS.

     

    This role will be working within a large team, consisting of developers, testers and agile practitioners.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Help to design and develop fit-for-purpose solutions to achieve sprint goals and deliver value to our business partners.
    • Help build out our CI/CD pipeline and AWS deployment infrastructure.
    • Establish and own best practice testing across unit, integration and end to end tests.
    • Work collaboratively within a cross functional Agile team, contributing to development, deployment and support activities as required.


    Previous experience or knowledge of the below is advantageous but not essential.

    • Understanding or exposure to Software Development.
    • Knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming techniques
    • Solid understanding of micro-service architecture and message bus design patterns
    • SQL and ORM technologies
    • Knowledge of Spring Boot and Spring Cloud
    • Knowledge of application and system monitoring tools
    • Knowledge of Atlassian suite products. JIRA, Confluence and Bitbucket
    • Understanding of cloud deployment with Docker and AWS
    • Understanding of security implications for web applications (OWASP)
    • Experience in or knowledge of GitLab DevOps Platform
