Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Administrator / Cloud & Infrastructure Engineer to provide technical leadership across a complex hybrid infrastructure environment. You will be responsible for the administration, support, optimisation, and continuous improvement of cloud, on-premises, networking, identity, cybersecurity, backup, and monitoring platforms.

This role plays a key part in delivering infrastructure projects, strengthening cyber resilience, improving operational capabilities, and ensuring secure, reliable, and high-performing technology services across the organisation.

Required Skills & Experience

We are seeking a highly capable and experienced infrastructure professional with expertise across:

• Hybrid infrastructure environments, including Microsoft Azure, Azure Local, and on-premises infrastructure.

• Microsoft 365, Entra ID, and Active Directory administration and support.

• Enterprise networking and security technologies, including Cisco, Meraki, and Palo Alto.

• Veeam Backup & Replication, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions.

• Infrastructure operations, cybersecurity, vulnerability management, and monitoring/observability platforms.

• PowerShell automation, scripting, and infrastructure-as-code practices.

• Infrastructure upgrades, migrations, technology refreshes, and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem-solving capabilities.

• Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and vendor management skills.

Highly Regarded:

• Experience working within Local Government or similarly complex enterprise environments.

• Exposure to ITIL-based service management, change management, and operational support practices.

• Experience supporting security-focused or highly regulated environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and support hybrid infrastructure environments across Microsoft Azure, Azure Local, and on-premises platforms.

• Manage Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Active Directory, and hybrid identity services.

• Lead infrastructure upgrades, migrations, system implementations, and technology refresh activities.

• Support enterprise networking and security platforms including Cisco, Meraki, and Palo Alto technologies.

• Manage backup, disaster recovery, monitoring, and observability platforms, including Veeam.

• Drive security hardening, vulnerability management, and cyber resilience initiatives.

• Develop and maintain automation solutions using PowerShell and infrastructure-as-code practices.

• Lead complex troubleshooting, root cause analysis, incident resolution, and continuous service improvement activities.

• Monitor infrastructure performance, availability, capacity, and cloud consumption to optimise service delivery and costs.

• Collaborate with vendors, managed service providers, project teams, and internal stakeholders to deliver technology outcomes.

• Develop and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and knowledge base articles.

Qualifications & Experience

• Tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Network Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Significant experience supporting enterprise infrastructure and cloud environments.

• Strong understanding of ITIL service management, change management, incident management, and problem management practices.

• Experience delivering infrastructure upgrades, cloud migrations, and technology improvement initiatives.

• Experience working within regulated, government, or security-focused environments will be highly regarded.
