About the Role
An exciting project is underway in our clients IT business unit to migrate document management sites from SharePoint 2013 to SharePoint Online. This initiative will transform people, processes and technology to deliver a modern, secure and efficient digital document management system through Microsoft 365.
In this role, you'll be part of a small, hands-on team focused on migrating SharePoint 2013 document management sites, such as Document Sets, to SharePoint Online. Your expertise in migration tools like Sharegate and PowerShell scripting will be essential, as will your ability to troubleshoot complex migration errors. Collaboration with other IT teams to resolve issues that arise during the migration will be a key aspect of your work.
Responsibilities
- Conduct migrations while managing Microsoft throttling and network limitations.
- Perform pre-migration checks to ensure all items are included and errors are resolved.
- Troubleshoot migration errors and warnings to ensure successful migrations.
- Collaborate with business units to define and confirm migration requirements.
- Apply migration best practices and configure SharePoint Online document management sites.
- Partner with the IT infrastructure team to set up and configure migration servers and service accounts using Sharegate and PowerShell scripts.
- Oversee SharePoint 2013 infrastructure to decommission migrated sites.
- Support the migration of non-Microsoft legacy data sources to SharePoint Online, including column mapping and metadata preservation.
Requirements
Mandatory
- Minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience in software development, with at least 5 years of experience designing and developing SharePoint 2013 and SharePoint Online solutions.
Desirable Skills and Knowledge
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and proactively solve migration issues by working with a range of internal stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or equivalent training and experience.
