Senior Software Developer - Back End

The Client is seeking a Senior Software Developer – Back End with strong expertise in mainframe development to support complex legacy systems and backend integrations. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical knowledge and recent hands-on experience in PL/I, XML processing, and z/OS environments.

Job Location: Toronto, ON/Hybrid

Job Description:

Must Haves:

·         Experience with z/OS V2.2 or higher

·         Proficiency in File Aid V10.1+ or IBM File Manager V13.1+

·         Strong experience with IMS DB V12+ using PLITDLI API

·         Experience with DB2 for z/OS V11 or higher

·         5+ years of experience developing mainframe PL/I transactions with XML input/output

·         Recent hands-on experience with PL/I V4.5 or higher

Responsibilities:

·         Analyze existing system design, code structure, and database requirements

·         Develop and document technical specifications per OPS standards

·         Modify and develop new PL/I code for online, batch, and workstation components

·         Collaborate with DBAs, mid-tier developers, and QA teams

·         Conduct unit and integration testing, defect resolution, and code retrofit

·         Lead design walkthroughs and knowledge transfer sessions

·         Ensure adherence to QA and project management standards
