Are you passionate about transforming complex data into meaningful insights that directly support public health? As a Data Science Officer, you will contribute to the development, authorisation and safe use of medicines by designing analytical solutions, driving digital innovation, and ensuring the highest standards in data quality and governance.
Role summary
In this role you will translate business needs into analytical approaches, enhance data processes, and develop digital solutions that support benefit‑risk decision‑making. You will collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders, working across business units to improve data access, quality and use. Your work will influence strategic initiatives, data‑driven projects, and technological innovation
Key responsibilities
As a Data Science Officer you could/will be responsible for:
Data Analysis & Visualisation
- Understand, analyse and present data requirements in a clear, structured and visual format.
- Translate business needs into scenarios, analytical approaches and actionable solutions.
- Create and implement data analyses, dashboards and visualisations using available data.
Digital & Process Innovation
- Develop and coordinate new processes and digital solutions in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Design AI/ML solutions, conduct proof-of-concepts, and implement working prototypes.
- Experiment with and introduce new technologies to enhance digital capabilities.
- Data Management & Quality
- Manage activities related to data management, data integration and data quality frameworks.
- Coordinate the implementation of methods ensuring compliance with policies on information access, data governance and quality assurance.
- Provide business data support in IT projects (UATs, metric verification, data consistency checks).
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders on data submission, extraction and analytics.
- Communicate and interpret non-routine information, provide guidance, and draft reports, presentations and documentation.
- Influence and negotiate within functional responsibilities to support strategic initiatives.
Education:
- A completed Master’s degree or PhD in Data Science, Informatics, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Economics, Biology, Medicine, Pharmacy or another science field requiring advanced analytical skills;
Experience and knowledge:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in areas related to pharmaceutical manufacturing, regulation or authorization;
- Hands‑on experience with data management and data analysis;
- Experience in handling large and/or real‑time datasets, including data cleansing, modelling and quality control;
- Proficiency with statistical software (e.g. R, SAS) and analytical programming languages (e.g. Python, SQL);
- Experience in advanced analytics techniques, specifically in building Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) models and solutions;
- Experience in using data visualisation and application tools (e.g. Tableau, Flask, R Shiny, Oracle BI, Power BI, etc.);
