Developer

Akkodis is seeking a Developer for a Contract with a client in North Quincy, MA. The ideal candidate has hands‑on expertise in COBOL, DB2, JCL, and SQL to design, develop, debug, and support mainframe applications while ensuring code quality, defect resolution, and smooth deployment in Agile environments.

Rate Range: $40/hour to $42/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Developer Job Responsibilities include:

• Design, develop, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, DB2, JCL, PL/1, CICS, and SQL stored procedures.

• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, and deployment.

• Provide production and test‑cycle support by investigating mainframe logs, resolving job abends, and fixing defects efficiently.

• Apply Agile methodologies to improve development efficiency while ensuring high standards of code quality and performance optimization.

• Perform debugging, tuning, and optimization of batch and online processes to ensure system stability and reliability.

• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and utilize tools such as SPUFI, File‑Aid, RTC, IDz, and JIRA to support development and tracking.

 

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

• 10+ years of hands-on experience in mainframe application development.

• Strong expertise in COBOL, DB2, JCL, and SQL stored procedure development with proven debugging and optimization skills.

• Experience supporting batch and online mainframe systems (CICS/MQ) with the ability to resolve job abends and work effectively in Agile delivery environments within Financial Services.

Pay Details: $40.00 to $42.00 per hour
