    Akkodis currently has an Electrical Automation Designer position with a client located in Rochester, NY. This is an onsite position, so the person needs to live within 40 miles of Rochester, NY. No C2C or agencies allowed with this position.

     

    Pay/Salary Range: $110,000 – 115,000 this salary may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location or other factors.

     

    Seeking a skilled Electrical Automation Designer to develop, design, and implement electrical and automation systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial control systems, electrical schematics, and process automation specific to fluid handling systems.

     

    Key Responsibilities:

     

    Electrical Design & Documentation:

    ·       Develop detailed electrical design packages including control panel layouts, wiring diagrams/schematics and I/O lists.

    ·       Develop Motor Control Center designs and layouts.

    ·       Select and specify electrical components (PLC’s, PLC I/O, Safety Equipment, VFDs, Enclosures, etc.) suitable for liquid processing environments.

    ·       Ensure compliance with industry standards.

     

    Automation & Control System Design:

    ·       Design PLC-based control systems, HMI/SCADA interfaces, and instrumentation layouts for liquid processing systems.

    ·       Familiarity with PLC and HMI programming experience a plus but not required.

     

    Process Integration:

    ·       Collaborate with process engineers to integrate control systems with field instrumentation, pumps, valves, flow meters, heat exchangers, CIP systems, etc.

     

    Project Execution & Support:

    ·       Participate in cost estimating.

    ·       Support panel fabrication, FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing), and SAT (Site Acceptance Testing).

    ·       Provide technical support during commissioning and start-up phases.

     

    Documentation & Compliance:

    ·       Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for electrical and control systems.

    ·       Ensure designs meet safety and regulatory requirements.

     

    Required Qualifications:

    ·       5 to 15 years of experience in electrical and automation design, preferably in the liquid process industry (e.g., dairy, brewing, biotech, chemical).

    ·       Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or AutoCAD Electrical.

    ·       Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.

    ·       Familiarity with process instrumentation and control strategies (P&IDs and control loops).

    ·       Knowledge of applicable electrical codes and standards.

    ·       Ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams and communicate with vendors, contractors, and clients.

     

    Preferred Qualifications:

    ·       Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related field.

    ·       Understanding of network communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, I/O Link).

    ·       Experience with PLC/HMI programming platforms (e.g., Rockwell Studio 5000, Ignition, Wonderware).

     

    Work Environment:

    ·       Combination of office-based design work and field/site visits.

    ·       Will require travel to manufacturing facilities and control panel shops.
