    Akkodis is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Environmental Compliance (EPC) Technician with a strong background in environmental science, regulatory compliance, and sustainability practices to join our client’s team in San Diego, CA.

    Type: Direct/Permanent Hire
    Salary: $70k – $85k/Annual + Discretionary Bonus up to $10k/Annually - Salary may be negotiable based upon experience, education, geographic location, and other factors
    Job Location: Jacumba Hot Springs, California (San Diego, CA)
    Job Training Location: Santa Fe Springs (2 months) + per diem payment

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations and standards applicable to solar energy projects.

    Assist in obtaining necessary permits and approvals from the city or county for renewable energy installations.

    Responsible for the operation of reactors and the various supporting tools in a class 100 clean room environment.

    Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changing environmental laws and regulations from CEQA, CDFW, AQMD agencies, RWCQB, USACE, and EPA.

    Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with environmental regulations to coordinate biological, cultural, archaeologist, and tribal surveys or monitoring on site.

    Monitor construction and operational activities to identify and mitigate potential environmental impacts such as SWPPP, SPCC, and BMP.

    Prepare and maintain accurate records of environmental inspections, audits, and compliance activities for submission to environmental regulatory agencies.

    Support the implementation of environmental management plans and best practices for renewable energy projects.

    Collaborate with project teams to integrate environmental considerations into project planning and execution.

    Provide training to employees on environmental compliance policies and procedures.

    Support internal audits and environmental compliance programs.

    Participate in the investigation and response to environmental incidents and emergencies and ensure proper documentation and follow-up of environmental incidents.

    Respond to environmental incidents, such as spills or releases, and coordinate mitigation efforts.

    Ensure proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials in compliance with regulations.

    Assist in communicating environmental compliance efforts to stakeholders, including regulatory agencies, community groups, and the public.

    Qualification Requirements:

    Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.).

    Strong organizational, presentation, and communication skills, both written and verbal.

    Ability to take ownership and accountability.

    Excellent reasoning and decision-making skills.

    Positive and proactive attitude.

    Experienced with assessment and design of environmental safety and standards.

    Capable of interacting professionally with AHJs, clients, colleagues, and the public.

    Familiarity with AutoCAD

    Experience with environmental monitoring, sampling, and data analysis.

    Strong understanding of federal, state, and local environmental regulations and permitting processes.

    Proficiency in using environmental monitoring equipment and software.

    Excellent record-keeping skills.

    Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

    Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

    Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    Strong understanding of Hazardous waste for operational/emergency response plan.

     

    Education/Experience

    Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in environmental science or environmental engineering.

    Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in environmental compliance, preferably in the renewable energy or construction industry.

     

    Work Environment and Physical Demands:

    Frequently works outdoors on uneven surfaces.

    May be required to sit or stand for long periods of time.

    May be required to stoop, bend, and crouch.

    Works in the office and the field.

    May work in varying weather conditions: hot, cold, and wet conditions.

    May occasionally work in areas with large industrial equipment subject to high noise levels and hazardous chemicals.
