    Akkodis is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer (Automotive) for a Direct Hire job with a client in Grand Rapids, MI. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and reviewing the procedures and equipment involved in the manufacturing process. Your duties include researching automation techniques, testing new systems for efficiency and planning factory layouts to optimize production.

     

    Rate Range: $75,000/year to $90,000/year plus bonus program; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

     

    Manufacturing Engineer (Automotive) job responsibilities include:

    ·         Support ongoing manufacturing projects by maintaining and optimizing injection molding equipment, auxiliary systems, and related production tools

    ·         Assist in the design, development, and launch of plastic automotive components, ensuring manufacturability and process efficiency

    ·         Train new employees on standardized work instructions, safety protocols, and quality objectives, fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration

    ·         Collaborate with sales and serve as a technical liaison with customers’ engineering and design teams to ensure product and process alignment

    ·         Conduct feasibility studies for new products and processes, and generate documentation in compliance with automotive industry standards (e.g., APQP, PPAP)

    ·         Analyze production workflows, injection molding cell layouts, and material flow to improve cycle times, reduce scrap, and enhance throughput

    ·         Lead tooling programs for new product introductions, including mold trials, process validation, and sample preparation for customer approval

    ·         Coordinate preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs for injection molding machines and related equipment to ensure optimal uptime

    ·         Ensure compliance with internal policies, safety standards, and industry-specific regulations such as IATF 16949

    ·         Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action activities related to molding defects, tooling issues, and production variances

    ·         Promote a respectful, inclusive work environment in alignment with company values and non-discriminatory practices

    ·         Perform other engineering and operational duties as assigned to support production goals

     

    Desired Qualifications:

    ·         Bachelor’s degree in engineering

    ·         Three plus years’ engineering experience

    ·         Plastic automotive experience

    ·         Has knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems

    ·         Has knowledge of customer requirements of FEMA, APQP, MSA, & SPC
