Akkodis is seeking a Powertrain Diagnostic Calibration Engineer for a Contract job with a client in Auburn Hills, MI. The ideal candidate must have experience in powertrain diagnostics, calibration, and validation, with a strong understanding of OBD II regulations and functional safety standards.
Rate Range: $36.75/hour to $41.75/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
Powertrain Diagnostic Calibration Engineer job responsibilities include:
Calibrate diagnostics to detect failure modes while minimizing false positives/negatives.
Validate diagnostic software strategies for various fault types (shorted high/low, open circuit, etc.).
Write software change requests to improve diagnostics and reduce warranty issues.
Support VRT engineers in resolving torque security diagnostic issues and developing test procedures.
Perform DTC validation to ensure correct MIL/ETC lamp behavior and safe vehicle response.
Validate calibrations per DVP&R and review scan data with reliability engineers.
Desired Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Controls Engineering, or a related field.
Experience in powertrain development (conventional or electrified).
Knowledge of OBD II regulations, DTC proposals, MIL requirements, and AECD.
Experience in functional safety development (ISO 26262), including HARA, FSC, TSC, ASIL, FMEA, FMEDA, and FTA.
Familiarity with SAE standards (J1979, J2012, J1968).
Proficiency in CAN protocols and tools like CANalyzer.

Pay Details: $36.75 to $41.75 per hour
