R&D Engineer II

Akkodis is seeking an R&D Engineer II for a Contract job with a client in Maple Grove, MN. You will lead the development and testing of embolic coil technologies and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and clinical readiness.

Rate Range: $40/hour to $42/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

R&D Engineer II job responsibilities include:

• Lead the design and development of embolic coils, applying mechanical design principles to meet clinical and regulatory standards.

• Create and execute development plans, including cascading experiments and iterative prototyping.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as R&D, marketing, and regulatory to align product development with business goals.

• Conduct testing and validation of designs, ensuring performance, safety, and compliance with medical device regulations.

• Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including physicians and cath lab personnel.

• Mentor junior engineers and technicians, providing guidance on design, testing, and documentation best practices.

 

 Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or chemical engineering (Biomedical Engineering degrees not accepted).

• 2–3+ years with a BS degree, or 1–2+ years with an MS degree in a relevant field.

• Strong mechanical design experience with a demonstrated ability to develop and iterate on product concepts.

• Experience in medical device development or participation in hands-on design projects or competitions.

Pay Details: $40.00 to $42.00 per hour
