    Akkodis is recruiting a Senior Mechanical Engineer with 10+ years of experience for a manufacturer in the Rockville, Maryland area. This is an onsite direct hire position with a pay range of $115K a year to $145K a year depending on locaiton, experience and education.In this role, you will be at the forefront of designing and developing mechanical systems for satellite communication antennas, both Outdoor Units (ODUs) and Indoor Units (IDUs).  

    Responsibilities

    • Lead the mechanical design and integration of SatCom user terminals from concept through production.

    • Develop mechanical components and assemblies that meet product specifications, ensuring compliance with environmental, reliability, and cost constraints.

    • Build and test mechanical prototypes using 3D printing or CNC machining to validate design concepts.

    • Conduct engineering analyses for SatCom terminal product integration at system and module levels.

    • Execute hardware verification, including defining and implementing test requirements/plans to ensure product quality and performance.

    • Collaborate with colleagues on design tools and laboratory test system selections for development.

    • Document design, test, debug, and validation processes throughout technical development cycles.

    • Support manufacturing partners in prototype development and production scaling.

    • Assist with quality assurance and troubleshooting during production line operations.

    Qualifications

    Experience

    • Minimum of 10 years of proven expertise in mechanical design and mass-production product development.

    • Experience in designing mechanical systems for satellite communication technologies is highly desirable.

    • Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams to deliver complex engineering projects. 

    Technical Skills

    • Proficiency in mechanical/CAD software, such as SolidWorks or equivalent.

    • Extensive knowledge in thermal analysis and simulations.

    • Hands-on experience with 3D printing for prototyping.

    • Solid understanding of reliability models (MTBF, etc.).

    • Foundational knowledge of electrical circuitry design and verification.

    • Expertise in cost-efficient manufacturing methodologies and technologies.

    • Ability to create and manage technical specifications, test reports, and application notes.

    Soft Skills

    • Strong communication skills for engaging with engineers, vendors, and customers.

    • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills in fast-paced and challenging environments, especially during design verification and troubleshooting phases.

    • Exceptional analytical and organizational skills, with acute attention to detail.

    • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
