Akkodis Nordics, a leading Scandinavian provider of rugged embedded computing, advanced engineering and AI-driven R&D services, today announced a strategic partnership with Scaleout Systems to bring production-ready Edge AI to clients operating in the toughest conditions — from offshore energy platforms and rail infrastructure to defense and autonomous systems.
The partnership combines Akkodis’ rugged industrial computing platforms, designed and tested in the Nordics for extreme environments, with Scaleout Systems’ edge-native machine learning orchestration and federated learning capabilities.
The demand for Edge AI is growing fast as data volumes continue to skyrocket, and industries seek lower latency, stronger security and better resilience. Gartner predicts that by 2025, 75% of enterprise-generated data will be created and processed outside traditional centralized data centers or cloud. The global edge AI market size is projected to reach USD 66.47 billion by 2030, growing at a CAGR of 21.7% from 2025 to 2030 (Grand View Research). However, deploying AI at the edge has been complex, expensive, and difficult to scale — until now. With this offering, together, the companies will help customers deploy and continuously improve AI models across fleets of distributed devices — without moving sensitive data and without relying on connectivity.
“Our customers run AI where the real world happens — in mines, on railways, on military platforms, on remote energy assets — places where bandwidth is limited or non-existing, conditions are harsh and security is non-negotiable,” said Per Kristian Egset, Senior Vice President, Akkodis Group Nordics.“With Scaleout, we’re giving them a faster, safer path from AI experiments to scalable field operations. Edge AI becomes accessible, governable, upgradeable and future-proof which is exactly what the Nordics need.”
“Akkodis brings decades of embedded engineering and field-tested hardware used in mission-critical systems across Europe,” said Andreas Hellander, CEO, Scaleout Systems.
“Paired with our federated learning and orchestration layer, clients can train and update models on thousands of devices while keeping data local and protected — a breakthrough for industries where privacy and uptime matter most.”
What the partnership will aim to deliver
- Resilient federated learning for critical edge environments
AI models are updated locally on deployed systems — even when disconnected from central networks — improving performance while keeping sensitive data on-site. This supports continuous learning at the edge, rapid adaptation to evolving situations, and resilient AI decision-support across critical infrastructure and operational domains. - Edge-native machine learning on rugged hardware
Pre-validated solution stacks that greatly reduce technical integration time, thus enabling faster industrial deployment. - Privacy-preserving AI training and compliance
Models learn from distributed data sources without centralizing personal or operational intelligence, supporting strict EU and national data sovereignty mandates. - Full lifecycle management at the edge
Secure model distribution, continuous monitoring and over-the-air updates for fleets — designed for constrained networks and real-world operations.
The next step is to translate this initiative into concrete deployments in defense, transportation and energy — accelerating real-world use cases where smarter, safer, and more efficient operations are essential. Converting advanced AI into dependable operational capability.
