We are seeking an experienced Network Security and Cyber Security Specialist with extensive expertise in network and cyber security solutions, particularly for Ontario K-12 school boards. This role involves the design, implementation, and management of cutting-edge security architectures and technologies, including AI, machine learning, and cloud-based solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Cyber Security and Network Security
10+ years’ experience in advanced SD networks, network security architectures, and protection solutions.
Proven experience with cyber security frameworks and technologies such as:
Software-defined networking (SDN), SD-WAN, and Secure Access Service Edge (SASE)
Zero-trust architecture (ZTA) and cloud security architecture
MITRE ATT&CK, MITRE D3FEND, MITRE ATLAS
Vendor-specific architectures (e.g., Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Security)
Leading implementation of security technologies, including:
Next-generation firewalls (Fortinet, Meraki, Palo Alto)
Network access control (HPE Aruba ClearPass, FortiNAC)
SIEM platforms (Microsoft Sentinel, Splunk, Google Chronicle, AlienVault, FortiSIEM)
SOAR, endpoint protection, and response solutions (EPP, EDR, XDR)
Cloud-based security solutions (SWG, CASB, SASE, Zero-Trust)
DDoS protection, IPS/IDS, user behavior analytics (UEBA), penetration testing
Leading implementation of authentication solutions:
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), Identity Management (IdM), Privileged Access Management (PAM)
Password-based, passwordless, certificate-based, and biometric authentication
Hands-on experience designing Security Operations Center (SOC) technologies and solutions, including SIEM and SOAR.
Network Technology
Extensive experience with network infrastructure (LAN/WAN, VPN, VXLAN, wLAN, NFV, server virtualization, and cloud platforms).
Demonstrated expertise in data monitoring and management systems (SolarWinds, FortiManager, Meraki, Panorama, Wireshark).
Experience with network traffic analysis tools (SolarWinds, PRTG, Wireshark), data logging mechanisms (Syslog, IPFix, NetFlow), and telecommunication technologies (fiber optic, LTE, 5G).
Proven ability to develop customized WAN and network architectures for SDN networks.
Experience evaluating and piloting emerging network technologies with proof-of-concepts.
Coordination and Communication
Strong communication skills with 10+ years’ experience presenting to management and external stakeholders.
Extensive experience preparing reports, recommendations, and technical documentation.
Demonstrated ability to coordinate complex technical projects across multiple IT teams.
Industry Certifications / Relevant Degrees
Relevant security certification required (e.g., CISSP or CISM).
Postgraduate degree (M.Sc. or Ph.D.) in computer science or engineering preferred.
Public Sector Experience
Knowledge of Government of Ontario standards (GO-ITS) and relevant policies.
Experience working with Ontario K-12 school boards, specifically with network and security infrastructures.
Hands-on experience designing and delivering technical training for Ontario K-12 school boards.
