IS-IT Security Engineer

Thales Netherlands is looking for an IS-IT Security Engineer to help our internal IT environments grow in cyber security maturity.

Your Role

As an IS-IT Security Engineer, you ensure our diverse IT environments remain secure, compliant, and up to date. You support environment owners hands-on with installing, configuring, and implementing security services. You make sure security controls actually work and that teams understand how to use them effectively.

You act as the technical link between environment owners, the IT department and the Cyber Security Office.

What You Will Do Daily

• Onboard environment owners with Windows & Linux update tools (e.g., WSUS, Satellite)
• Implement antivirus and endpoint protection solutions across the organisation
• Create and configure policies, OUs, permissions, and other AD settings within a dedicated security Active Directory domain
• Collaborate with and support technical teams that require assistance
• Serve as the technical connector between environment owners, IT, and the Cyber Security Office
• Automate and simplify onboarding steps (e.g., via internal service request portals)
• Improve installation and configuration guides, runbooks, and how-to documents
• Propose, develop, and implement new security services
• Monitor and report on adoption and security maturity, and identify opportunities for improvement

Who You Are

We are looking for someone technically strong, service-oriented, and driven to embed security effectively within teams.

You bring:

• HBO-level education or equivalent experience
• A technical IT background
• A security-minded approach focused on prevention and protection
• Experience with Active Directory (onboarding, policies, troubleshooting)
• Knowledge of Windows or Linux server environments
• Experience with basic configuration and troubleshooting
• Strong communication skills
• A proactive, collaborative mindset within an Agile environment
• Fluency in English (spoken and written)
