Edwin, can you tell more about yourself??

‘My name is Edwin de Bruijn, born and raised in Nijmegen, where I still currently live with my wife and 2 children. My first job was as a process engineer at Phillips, now NXP semiconductors, after which I quickly moved to ASML. At that time, in 2004, still an unknown company with ~4000 employees. In my first position, I was mainly busy tuning systems at customers such as TSMC, Samsung and Intel. This allowed me to see and sample a lot of the world.’

What was your next step in your career?

‘After that I fulfilled several roles at ASML within the departments; “Development”, “Manufacturing” and “Customer Support”. Especially the latter was an interesting challenge, where I focused on escalation management for customers in Asia, EU and US. At that time you strongly notice the impact of different cultures, company policies and working methods.’

What is the biggest challenge with an international role?

‘At the same time, you have to switch smoothly with your internal customers and sometimes unwittingly ask a colleague to fly to another continent for support with a problem. Five years later, I myself became co-responsible for setting up an “escalation management” department for the newest generation of scanners; EUV. I am grateful for all the challenges that came my way back then and from which I have gained a global network.’

What are you most proud of?

‘I Akkodis gives me the opportunity to think “out-of-the-box” when it comes to future roles I could fulfill. I am not afraid to tackle something new, enjoy leading projects and find that a role as a coach suits me well as well. The support I get from Akkodis gives me confidence to be in the lead of my own career. For example, my first assignment for Akkodis was right back at ASML, on my own initiative.’

What is important to you for in the future?

‘In the future, I hope I can fulfill more assignments and leave a calling card with a gold lining for Akkodis.’
