API Security Engineer

Akkodis is seeking an API Security Engineer for a Contract job with a client in Nashville, TN. The ideal candidate must have strong hands‑on experience with Broadcom Layer 7 API Gateway, including policy configuration, security enforcement, and threat protection, along with a solid understanding of API lifecycle management.

Rate Range: $59/hour to $61/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

API Security Engineer job responsibilities include:

• Design and implement API security policies using Broadcom Layer 7 Policy Manager.

• Configure and manage APIs across their full lifecycle, including onboarding, versioning, and decommissioning.

• Develop and maintain policy assertions, routing rules, and gateway configurations.

• Monitor API traffic, logs, and performance, integrating with SIEM and monitoring tools.

• Enforce authentication and authorization standards across enterprise services.

• Perform gateway upgrades, patching, and capacity planning to ensure reliability and scalability.

• Collaborate with development teams to support API onboarding and Developer Portal usage.

Desired Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.

• 5+ years of experience in API gateway management and API security.

• Strong hands-on expertise with Broadcom Layer 7 API Gateway (must-have).

• Experience with policy authoring, assertions, and routing configurations.

• Knowledge of API security practices and threat protection mechanisms.

• Experience with authentication protocols (OAuth, JWT, etc.).

• Strong understanding of enterprise security compliance standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience deploying API gateways across multiple environments (RHEL/CentOS, VMware, AWS, Docker).

• Familiarity with networking and DMZ architecture.

• Experience integrating with SIEM tools and monitoring platforms.

Pay Details: $59.00 to $61.00 per hour
