Akkodis is seeking a Plant Controls Engineer for a Contract with a client in Sterling Heights, MI. The ideal candidate is responsible for improving and maintaining automation systems by troubleshooting equipment, optimizing performance using Factory Information Systems, and supporting integration with plant technologies.
Rate Range: $40/hour to $42/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
Plant Controls Engineer Job Responsibilities include:
Improve and optimize control systems and equipment performance using Factory Information Systems (FIS) data and analytics.
Troubleshoot automation, PLCs, robotics, and machinery issues to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
Lead problem-solving initiatives and coordinate cross-functional resources to resolve equipment and process issues.
Support integration of control systems with IT platforms and plant technologies such as IIoT and error-proofing systems.
Program, modify, and maintain PLC-controlled equipment, including backups and updates for engineering changes.
Assist in training manufacturing personnel and support safe installation, commissioning, and continuous improvement of automation systems.
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma required; bachelor’s degree in electrical, Controls, or Automation Engineering preferred.
5+ years of experience in controls engineering, PLC programming, and industrial automation.
Strong hands-on expertise in PLC systems with proven experience in troubleshooting, programming, and automation system improvements.
Proven ability to lead problem-solving initiatives, integrate control systems with IT platforms (FIS/IIoT), and drive continuous improvement in manufacturing performance and reliability.

Pay Details: $40.00 to $42.00 per hour
