Your Role

Akkodis is seeking an experienced RCDD Cable Engineer for a Contract position with a global solutions and service delivery organization in Plano, TX (Remote). This role provides technical design and engineering support for structured cabling systems, technology rooms/raised floor environments, backbone/riser, and lateral distribution systems.

Rate Range: $55.00/hour to $60.00/hour on W2; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

RCDD Cable Engineer job responsibilities include:

  • Provide technical design and engineering for structured cabling infrastructure, including technology rooms, raised floor areas, backbone/riser, and lateral distribution systems.

  • Develop estimates, scopes of work, and design documentation, including bid and construction documents.

  • Analyze bids, develop and administer RFPs, and support vendor selection activities.

  • Conduct field surveys, validate as‑built drawings, and provide project close‑out support.

  • Apply knowledge of building codes, regulations, and structured cabling standards to ensure compliant designs.

  • Communicate structured cabling standards and design intent to partners, stakeholders, and lines of business.

  • Translate business requirements into functional technology requirements.

  • Adhere to global design authority processes, standards, and procedures.

  • Interface with General Contractors (GCs), MEP Engineering, and Architectural firms.

  • Oversee Communications Construction Management (CCM) and cabling contractor activities, addressing site‑specific construction issues.

Must‑Have Skills:

  • Structured cabling design expertise (data center and commercial environments).

  • Strong understanding of hierarchical network design (WAN, Core, Aggregation, etc.).

  • Hands‑on experience with AutoCAD, MS Project, MS Office, and Visio.

  • Experience delivering multi‑vendor infrastructure solutions (primarily Corning and CommScope).

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, related field, or equivalent technical training.

  • 10+ years of experience preparing structured cabling designs in data center environments.

  • Commercial infrastructure experience (tenant fit‑out) preferred.

  • Strong background supporting major IT infrastructure projects.

  • Familiarity with ISO/IEC, CENELEC, and BICSI structured cabling standards across global regions (US, CALA, EMEA, APAC).

  • Ability to modify designs to meet customer requirements and unique installation challenges.

Certifications:

  • RCDD certification – Required

  • Management experience desirable.

  • Fluency in spoken and written English required; additional language proficiency is a plus.

Pay Details: $55.00 to $60.00 per hour
