Senior Data Governance Engineer

Akkodis is seeking a Senior Data Governance Engineer for a Contract with a client in Newark, NJ (Hybrid). The ideal candidate is responsible for implementing and operating Purview components while governing metadata, lineage, and classifications across Azure and AWS data services using Python-driven solutions.

Rate Range: $34/hour to $36/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Senior Data Governance Engineer Job Responsibilities include:

• Implement, configure, and operate Microsoft Purview across enterprise data platforms, including collections, scanners, metadata catalog, classifications, glossary, and lineage.

• Establish and enforce data governance standards, policies, and controls across Azure and AWS data services.

• Integrate Purview with cloud data sources to enable end-to-end data discovery, lineage tracking, and compliance reporting.

• Develop and maintain Python-based automation for metadata ingestion, governance workflows, and operational optimization.

• Collaborate with data engineering, analytics, and security teams to align governance practices with business and regulatory requirements.

• Monitor, support, and continuously improve data governance frameworks, ensuring data quality, transparency, and consistency.

 

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.

• 5–10 years of overall experience, with 4–6+ years in data governance, data engineering, or analytics engineering roles.

• Proven, hands-on experience implementing and operating Microsoft Purview in enterprise environments, including collections, scanners, catalog, classifications, glossary, and lineage.

• Strong proficiency with Azure and AWS data services, along with Python skills to automate governance workflows and metadata management.

Pay Details: $34.00 to $36.00 per hour
