Akkodis is seeking a Senior Python Developer for a Contract position supporting the Enterprise Risk and Finance Technology organization for the client in Plano, TX or Jersey City, NJ. This role focuses on developing and enhancing trade surveillance and market manipulation detection systems that support regulatory compliance initiatives. The position is a hands‑on senior developer role, centered on rule‑based monitoring systems, Python development, and REST‑driven architectures.
Pay Range: $65.00/hour to $68.00/hour on W2; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
Senior Python Developer job responsibilities include:
Serve as a hands‑on senior developer, primarily using Python, contributing to core components of enterprise compliance and surveillance platforms.
Design, develop, and maintain rule‑based trade surveillance systems focused on detecting market manipulation behaviors.
Convert existing PL/SQL‑based surveillance rules into Python implementations.
Build and enhance rule generation and monitoring logic (non‑machine learning based).
Develop and consume REST APIs that support API‑driven UI functionality.
Own and manage assigned JIRA stories, ensuring high‑quality delivery aligned to monthly release cycles.
Develop and support regulatory surveillance solutions on the Quartz platform, including remediation of audit findings.
Collaborate closely with quantitative researchers, business analysts, compliance teams, and audit stakeholders.
Analyze complex domain‑specific datasets to support trade surveillance, risk monitoring, and compliance use cases.
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of hands‑on programming experience in an object‑oriented language.
Proven production‑level Python development experience.
3+ years experience as a senior developer supporting financial services applications.
3+ years experience developing REST services or full‑stack applications.
Strong experience with relational and object databases.
Solid understanding of SDLC, version control, and CI/CD practices.
2+ years experience developing risk or pricing applications.
Bachelor’s degree preferred (Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field).
Must‑Have Technical Skills:
Python (production‑grade experience required)
REST API development
Experience converting PL/SQL business rules into Python
Strong understanding of rule‑based systems and monitoring logic

Pay Details: $64.00 to $68.00 per hour
