Position: Senior API - Software Developer
Duration: 1 Year assignment (contract)
Client Location: Toronto (Onsite: 7.25 hours/day between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday)
Engagement Model: Professional Services Engagement – B2B (Incorporated Entities Only)

This position is provisionally Onsite, requiring 7.25 hours per calendar day between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday (excluding breaks). Conditions may change based on organizational requirements and at the discretion of the Hiring Manager.
About the Engagement
Akkodis is seeking an experienced Senior API - Software Developer to support the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise API and integration solutions within complex, large-scale technology environments.
This role requires a senior technical professional with extensive experience in Java development, RESTful services, API lifecycle management, enterprise integrations, and modern cloud-based architectures. The successful consultant will be responsible for developing secure, scalable, and high-performing API solutions while supporting digital transformation initiatives and enterprise system integrations.
Scope
Support API lifecycle management including design, development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and version control.
Implement integrations between enterprise applications, databases, CRMs, document management solutions, and case management platforms.
Develop and maintain API gateway policies and security controls.
Provide technical expertise for application modernization, system integrations, and service-oriented architecture initiatives.
Assignment Deliverables
Unit Testing and System Testing Deliverables.
API Documentation using OpenAPI/Swagger Standards.
Deployment Automation and CI/CD Artifacts.
Production Support and Issue Resolution Documentation.
Technical Knowledge Transfer and Support Materials.
Expertise Required
Must Have:
10+ years of experience as a designer and developer within large-scale multi-client web application environments.
10+ years of hands-on Java development experience utilizing Oracle or SQL databases.
5+ years of hands-on experience designing and developing REST APIs and RESTful web services.
5+ years of experience with API development, integration design, and implementation within complex enterprise environments.
Strong understanding of API security principles and implementation.
Nice to Have:
Experience working with enterprise middleware and integration platforms.
Exposure to event-driven architecture and enterprise messaging solutions.
Security Clearance
Required.
