I'm looking for an experienced Quality Engineering and Testing Senior Manager to help define, grow, and lead a high‑impact testing capability focused on the public sector. This role blends practice building, senior delivery leadership, and business development, working across complex technology and transformation programmes.
You'll play a key role in shaping testing strategy, developing propositions, and driving growth through RFPs, ITTs, and client pursuits, while also taking a senior role in the delivery of large‑scale testing engagements.
What you'll be doing:
- Leading and growing a Quality Engineering and Testing practice within the public sector
- Owning and delivering revenue targets and developing a strong pipeline of opportunities
- Leading and contributing to RFPs, ITTs, bids, and proposal development, including solution design and pricing
- Shaping and leading business development conversations with new and existing clients
- Acting as a senior leader in the delivery of complex testing and quality engineering engagements
- Building, mentoring, and coaching high‑performing teams
- Developing long‑term, trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders
- Supporting wider account and sector growth through close collaboration with leadership
Key skills and experience I'm looking for:
- Proven experience in Quality Engineering and Software Testing within large IT transformation programmes
- Strong background delivering for public sector clients (e.g. government, healthcare, defence, education, transport)
- Demonstrable success in business development, including RFP/ITT responses, pipeline development, and deal conversion
- Experience leading complex, multi‑stream testing programmes across customer‑facing and back‑office systems
Deep understanding of the testing landscape, including:
- Testing services and delivery models
- Test tools (commercial and open‑source)
- Testing approaches across different SDLCs
- Test metrics, accelerators, and governance
- Vendor and supplier ecosystems
Expertise in one or more of the following:
- Test automation and quality engineering
- Non‑functional testing
- Accessibility testing
- Testing with AI, and testing of AI
- Strong people leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills
- Ability to turn client objectives into practical, scalable delivery approaches
This role is well suited to someone with strong technical credibility and commercial acumen, who enjoys shaping propositions, winning work, and leading teams while delivering meaningful outcomes in complex public sector environments.
