    We are seeking a R&D Food Technologist for our Akkodis team to strengthen the team of our client Unilever in the S&T Product and Process Science Foods department.

    Your role

    In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of innovations across the Foods portfolio, provide important business support and play a crucial role in solving calamities in factories. The main purpose of this position is microstructure analysis of food ingredients and products with CLSM and micro-CT. This includes advanced image analysis, both using classic methods and with deep learning models. You will also be responsible for coordinating deployment of these techniques in collaboration with other microstructure analysis experts in the Measurement Science Microstructure team. In multi-disciplinary R&D project teams, you will provide expertise and guidance on all aspects of microscopic assessment of food composition and structure. This role presents an exciting opportunity for a team player who is passionate to use advanced microscopy and imaging techniques to create a deeper understanding on how structural properties influence the functional behaviour of food products. Further you will:

    • Translate S&T project questions regarding food-structure function relationships into food analyses in a multi-disciplinary approach
    • Deploy of CLSM and micro-CT, including advanced image analysis in S&T projects in Foods and reporting of results to project teams
    • Deploy of these techniques to provide business support
    • Coordinate project work that involves other imaging and spectroscopy expertise in Unilever’s microstructure analysis teams and the Wageningen eco-system.

    Your profile

    We are looking for candidates with the following skillset:

    • Education: BSc or MSc degree in a relevant subject, like Food Science, Biological Sciences, Analytical Sciences
    • 3+ years experience in microstructural analysis of food products using CLSM and micro-CT, including advanced image analysis
    • Experience in defining microstructure-function relationships in foods
    • Excellent analytical skills
    • Good presentation, reporting and communication skills
