Application Security Architect

Akkodis is seeking an Application Security Architect for a Contract job with a client in Milford Mill, MD. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in SAP Security, IT Security Controls, SOX Compliance, and SAP Business Process Controls, along with a strong background in application security governance, audit readiness, and risk management.

Rate Range: $67/hour to $69/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Application Security Architect Job Responsibilities Include:

• Review, assess, and integrate application security requirements across SAP environments to ensure compliance with enterprise security policies and regulatory standards.

• Design and implement SAP security controls, governance frameworks, and access management processes that mitigate risk and strengthen system security.

• Evaluate and support IT General Controls (ITGCs), application controls, segregation of duties (SoD), and security compliance requirements across SAP platforms.

• Partner with business, audit, compliance, and technology teams to support SOX audits, control testing, remediation activities, and regulatory compliance initiatives.

• Review application security architecture requirements and provide recommendations regarding security design, authorization concepts, risk mitigation strategies, and control effectiveness.

• Conduct security assessments, control evaluations, and compliance reviews while supporting continuous improvement initiatives related to SAP security and governance.

• Collaborate with stakeholders to implement and maintain SAP Business Process Controls that support operational efficiency, compliance, and risk management objectives.

Desired Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related discipline.

• A minimum of eight to ten years of experience supporting SAP Security, IT Security Controls, Compliance, Audit, or Application Security functions.

• Strong expertise in SAP Security architecture, authorizations, role design, segregation of duties, and access governance.

• Extensive experience supporting SOX compliance programs, audit readiness efforts, control testing, and risk management initiatives.

• Demonstrated knowledge of SAP Business Process Controls, IT General Controls (ITGCs), and SAP security best practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with Big Four consulting firms or supporting Big Four-led SAP audit and compliance engagements.

• Strong IT audit background with expertise in control design, compliance assessments, and remediation management.

• Familiarity with SAP GRC Access Control, Process Control, Risk Management, and related governance solutions.

• Experience supporting enterprise application security programs within highly regulated industries.

• Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, risk management methodologies, and security governance standards.

• Professional certifications such as CISA, CISSP, SAP Security Certification, CPA, or related compliance and security credentials are highly desirable.

This position requires the use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Pay Details: $67.00 to $69.00 per hour
