Controls Engineer

Akkodis is seeking a Controls Engineer for a Contract with a client in Sterling Heights, MI. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting and improving manufacturing automation, control systems, and production equipment to enhance operational efficiency and reliability.

Rate Range: $42/hour to $45/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Controls Engineer Job Responsibilities include:

• Develop, program, and implement improvements to manufacturing control systems, PLCs, CNC equipment, robots, and automation machinery.

• Troubleshoot equipment, automation, and control system issues to minimize downtime and improve production performance.

• Lead root cause analysis and problem-solving activities using structured methodologies to resolve equipment and process issues.

• Support new equipment installations, engineering changes, and automation projects, including programming, testing, and commissioning.

• Utilize Factory Information Systems (FIS) and monitoring tools to analyze equipment performance, cycle times, and operational efficiency.

• Collaborate with maintenance teams, engineers, vendors, and production personnel while maintaining program backups and supporting equipment safety reviews.

 

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma required; bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field preferred.

• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing controls, industrial automation, PLC programming, and equipment troubleshooting.

• Strong hands-on experience with PLC controllers (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Rexroth), CNC systems, industrial robots, and manufacturing automation equipment.

• Proven expertise in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, process improvements, and working with Factory Information Systems (FIS) in a manufacturing environment.

Pay Details: $42.00 to $45.00 per hour
