Custom Software Engineer

Akkodis is seeking a Custom Software Engineer for a Contract job with a client in Nashville, TN. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Java development, software engineering, application architecture, and modern web application development, along with expertise in building scalable, high-performance enterprise solutions.

Rate Range: $73/hour to $76/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Custom Software Engineer Job Responsibilities Include:

• Design, develop, test, and maintain custom software applications using Java and modern development frameworks to support business and technical requirements.

• Take ownership of software components and ensure application quality, scalability, maintainability, and performance standards are consistently achieved.

• Collaborate with architects, product owners, business stakeholders, and development teams to design and implement enterprise software solutions.

• Contribute to software architecture decisions, technical designs, coding standards, and best practices that support long-term application growth and stability.

• Develop responsive and adaptive applications that provide optimal user experiences across multiple platforms and devices.

• Analyze complex technical challenges, troubleshoot application issues, and implement innovative solutions that improve functionality, performance, and usability.

• Participate in Agile development activities including sprint planning, code reviews, backlog refinement, daily standups, testing, and release planning.

• Support software enhancements, integration initiatives, and modernization efforts while ensuring adherence to development standards and security practices.

Desired Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.

• Five to ten years of experience in software development, application engineering, or enterprise software delivery.

• Advanced proficiency in Java development and object-oriented programming principles.

• Strong experience with Custom Application Development, Software Engineering, and Software Design methodologies.

• Experience designing scalable enterprise applications and supporting complex software architectures.

• Knowledge of Agile development practices, software development lifecycle methodologies, and modern development frameworks.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Angular and modern front-end frameworks.

• Knowledge of Solution Architecture, enterprise integration patterns, and distributed application design.

• Experience developing responsive and adaptive user interfaces.

• Familiarity with cloud platforms, API development, microservices architecture, and enterprise application modernization.

• Experience conducting code reviews, mentoring development teams, and promoting software engineering best practices.

• Understanding of DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and application performance optimization.

Pay Details: $73.00 to $76.00 per hour
