Your Role

Akkodis is seeking a Data Operations Engineer for a Contract job with a client in Chicago, IL. The ideal candidate must have strong experience in Talend, SQL, and AWS/GCP cloud platforms, along with expertise supporting enterprise-scale data operations and production data environments.

Rate Range: $59/hour to $61/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Data Operations Engineer job responsibilities include:

  • Manage and support enterprise data pipelines, ingestion frameworks, and analytical datasets across AWS and/or GCP environments.

  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve data pipeline failures, data quality issues, and performance bottlenecks.

  • Build, maintain, and optimize ETL/ELT processes using Talend and/or dbt.

  • Develop automation solutions and operational tooling using Python to improve monitoring, alerting, and reconciliation processes.

  • Support data reprocessing, historical backfills, and controlled re-drive activities while maintaining governance and auditability.

  • Partner with Data Engineering, BI, and Platform teams to ensure data accuracy, freshness, and SLA compliance.

  • Implement and maintain operational procedures, runbooks, and support documentation.

  • Optimize cloud platform performance, reliability, and operational efficiency.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field.

  • 7–10 years of experience in Data Operations, Data Engineering, or Platform Operations.

  • Strong hands-on expertise with Talend (must-have).

  • Strong experience with SQL and data analysis (must-have).

  • Experience supporting enterprise data platforms on AWS and/or GCP (must-have).

  • Strong understanding of:

    • Data pipeline orchestration

    • Data quality validation and reconciliation

    • Batch and near real-time processing

    • Production support and SLA management

  • Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with dbt.

  • Strong Python development and automation skills.

  • Experience in Retail, QSR (Quick Service Restaurants), or consumer-facing industries.

  • Familiarity with data observability, monitoring, and alerting solutions.

  • Experience with DevOps and CI/CD practices for data platforms.

  • Exposure to large-scale transactional, sales, or operational reporting systems.

  • Experience working in high-availability or regulated environments.

Pay Details: $59.00 to $61.00 per hour
