Your Role
Akkodis is seeking a Senior Embedded Hardware Engineer to support a strategic initiative focused on improving hardware efficiency, reducing product costs, and enhancing manufacturability across high-volume embedded electronic systems. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys evaluating existing designs, identifying optimization opportunities, and driving measurable impact through hardware improvements.
Working within a cross-functional engineering environment, you will analyze current electronic designs, recommend enhancements, and support implementation efforts from concept through validation and production release.
Pay Rate: $50-65/Hour + Benefits
Responsibilities
· Evaluate existing electronic hardware designs and identify opportunities to improve performance, manufacturability, and overall product cost.
· Modify and enhance electronic schematics and printed circuit board designs to streamline hardware architectures.
· Assess electronic components and identify suitable alternatives to improve availability, reduce cost, and minimize supply chain risk.
· Partner with manufacturing, sourcing, and engineering teams to support design improvements for high-volume production environments.
· Optimize PCB designs with a focus on layout efficiency, component density, reliability, and manufacturability.
· Build, troubleshoot, and validate prototype hardware using standard laboratory test equipment.
· Support product verification activities, including environmental, regulatory, and reliability testing.
· Generate and maintain technical documentation related to design revisions, engineering changes, and manufacturing releases.
· Participate in root cause investigations and technical problem-solving efforts related to hardware performance and production challenges.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
· Professional experience developing embedded electronic hardware products.
· Strong background in schematic capture and PCB design utilizing Cadence tools.
· Experience working with microcontrollers, power circuitry, analog and digital components, and mixed-signal hardware.
· Understanding of electronic component selection, sourcing considerations, and lifecycle management.
· Knowledge of PCB manufacturing processes and surface-mount assembly techniques.
· Hands-on experience debugging hardware designs at the board and component levels.
· Comfortable using oscilloscopes, power measurement equipment, and other electronic test instruments.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience supporting product redesign, value engineering, or hardware optimization initiatives.
· Knowledge of signal integrity, power integrity, or thermal performance analysis.
· Exposure to high-volume manufacturing environments.
· Familiarity with cost modeling, design-to-cost methodologies, or component cost analysis.
· Basic understanding of embedded software concepts and hardware/firmware integration testing.
