Gear Machining Launch Process Engineer

Akkodis is seeking a Gear Machining Launch Process Engineer for a Contract with a client in Sterling Heights, MI. The ideal candidate will drive continuous improvement in gear machining processes by enhancing safety, quality, and productivity through lean manufacturing and process control initiatives.

Rate Range: $42/Hour to $45/Hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Gear Machining Launch Process Engineer Responsibilities include:

• Support manufacturing process engineering activities for gear machining operations to improve safety, quality, and productivity.

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and variability reduction methodologies.

• Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective actions through 8D, 5Why, and data-driven problem-solving techniques.

• Complete PPAP documentation and ensure compliance with quality, environmental, and manufacturing standards.

• Conduct process audits, ergonomic evaluations, and develop process instructions to maintain operational excellence.

• Identify throughput constraints and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and achieve production targets.

 

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma/GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred.

• Minimum 5+ years of experience in manufacturing/process engineering within a machining environment.

• Strong expertise in gear machining, Statistical Process Control (SPC), PPAP, and Lean Manufacturing methodologies.

• Experience with root cause analysis, corrective actions, process audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Pay Details: $42.00 to $45.00 per hour
