Java + AI Engineer

Akkodis is seeking a Java + AI Engineer for a Contract with a client in Chicago, IL. This role focuses on designing scalable AI systems, orchestrating LLM pipelines, and deploying enterprise‑grade APIs and microservices.

Rate Range: $49/hour to $53/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Java + AI Engineer job responsibilities include:

• Design, build, and deploy AI/ML and Generative AI solutions including LLM applications, RAG pipelines, agents, and predictive models.

• Translate business requirements into scalable, production‑ready AI solutions with measurable outcomes and performance impact.

• Develop high‑performance Java components, including Java streams, APIs, and microservices that integrate AI capabilities across enterprise systems.

• Implement LLM orchestration techniques such as prompt engineering, vector search, embeddings, and model fine‑tuning.

• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (Data Engineering, Data Science, Product, Cloud) across onshore/offshore models to deliver end‑to‑end AI solutions.

• Apply MLOps/LLMOps best practices including CI/CD, monitoring, versioning, governance, and ensuring Responsible AI, security, and compliance.

 

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

• 6–8 years of experience in software engineering, ML engineering, or AI solution development.

• Strong proficiency in Java, including hands‑on experience with Java streams and building scalable microservices.

• Hands‑on experience with Generative AI/LLMs such as RAG, embeddings, prompt engineering, and LLM orchestration.

Pay Details: $49.00 to $53.00 per hour
