Your Role
Akkodis is seeking a skilled Level 2 Data Center Technician to support the deployment, installation, validation, and maintenance of critical data center infrastructure. This role is ideal for a hands-on technical professional who is experienced in server, storage, networking, cabling, and cooling systems, and who thrives in fast-paced, mission-critical environments.
You will play a key role in ensuring equipment is installed correctly, operational standards are met, and infrastructure is delivered with a strong focus on quality, reliability, and safety.
Rate Range: $27/hour to $32/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, and other factors.
Responsibilities:
Install, configure, and validate data center hardware, including server, storage, and networking equipment.
Build and maintain rack environments, ensuring adherence to industry best practices for organization, airflow, and cable management.
Deploy and support structured cabling solutions using both fiber and copper media.
Perform fiber optic cable installation, testing, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.
Configure and support rack power infrastructure, including PDUs, dual-power architecture, and redundancy requirements.
Assist with operating system deployment activities using imaging, PXE-based provisioning, ISO installations, and automated deployment methods.
Conduct basic BIOS, firmware, and hardware configuration tasks as part of system deployment and validation.
Execute post-installation testing and quality checks to verify successful implementation and operational readiness.
Interpret technical documentation, including schematics, engineering drawings, and Methods of Procedure (MOPs).
Diagnose and resolve installation-related issues while minimizing disruption to project timelines.
Provide guidance and technical support to less experienced technicians when needed.
Follow established health, safety, and operational procedures within the data center environment.
Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience performing data center installations or working in a comparable hands-on infrastructure role.
Strong knowledge of rack-based infrastructure and associated server, storage, and network hardware platforms.
Proven expertise in structured cabling standards and cable management practices.
Direct experience with fiber optic installation, testing, certification, and troubleshooting.
Familiarity with rack-level power distribution concepts, including redundant power designs and dual-feed configurations.

Confidence in mentoring or providing direction to junior technicians.

Physical Requirements
Ability to perform installation and deployment activities within physically demanding data center settings, including lifting, cabling, equipment handling, and extended periods of standing or movement.
