Mainframe Software Engineer

Akkodis is seeking a Mainframe Software Engineer for a Contract with a client in Livonia, MI (Hybrid). The ideal candidate is responsible for supporting, enhancing, and modernizing critical Recall Suite applications while ensuring reliable production operations and business continuity.

Rate Range: $55/hour to $65/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Mainframe Software Engineer Job Responsibilities include:

• Develop, maintain, and support Mainframe applications using COBOL, IMS, JCL, DB2, and related technologies to meet business and operational requirements.

• Provide production support, incident resolution, and on-call support for Recall Suite and Software FSA applications.

• Design, develop, and implement enhancements, integrations, and modernization initiatives to support application migration objectives.

• Troubleshoot defects, perform root-cause analysis, and manage backlog items to ensure timely resolution of business and technical issues.

• Develop and support system integrations using z/OS Connect, REST APIs, SOAP services, SFTP, and other data exchange technologies.

• Collaborate with Product Owners, Product Managers, business stakeholders, and engineering teams to deliver new features, compliance requirements, and modernization projects.

 

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.

• 7+ years of experience in Mainframe application development and support, including 4+ years of hands-on software development experience.

• Strong expertise in Mainframe technologies including COBOL, IMS, JCL, CA7, DB2, batch processing, and application support within enterprise environments.

• Experience with system integrations using z/OS Connect, REST/SOAP APIs, SFTP, source code management tools (Endevor/GitHub), and application modernization initiatives.

Pay Details: $55.00 to $65.00 per hour
