Your Role
Akkodis is seeking a Postgres DBA for a Contract with a client in Sunnyvale, CA/Austin, TX. The ideal candidate will be responsible for administering, monitoring, and optimizing PostgreSQL database environments to ensure high availability, performance, and data integrity for mission-critical applications.
Rate Range: $53/hour to $60/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
Postgres DBA Job Responsibilities include:
Administer, maintain, and support PostgreSQL database environments, ensuring high availability, reliability, and optimal performance.
Perform database backup, restore, replication, and point-in-time recovery (PITR) activities to safeguard critical business data.
Monitor and troubleshoot database performance issues, including locking, blocking, long-running queries, and resource utilization.
Plan and execute PostgreSQL upgrades, patching, maintenance activities, and cloud-based deployments across AWS or GCP environments.
Implement and manage high-availability and disaster recovery solutions using technologies such as Repmgr, Pgpool, or EFM.
Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and development teams to support mission-critical databases, optimize performance, and ensure operational continuity.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Database Administration, Engineering, or a related technical field.
6–8 years of hands-on experience in PostgreSQL Database Administration and support.
Strong expertise in PostgreSQL architecture, backup and recovery, replication, point-in-time recovery (PITR), database upgrades, and performance tuning.
Experience managing large-scale, high-availability PostgreSQL environments on AWS/GCP, with exposure to Kubernetes, containerization technologies, and mission-critical database operations.

Pay Details: $53.00 to $60.00 per hour
