Software Engineer

Akkodis is seeking a Software Engineer for a Direct Hire with a client in Exton, PA (Hybrid). The ideal candidate must have strong COBOL programming and SQL skills, with experience analyzing requirements, developing application features, troubleshooting defects, and participating in code reviews.

Salary Range: $110K/Yearly to $130K/Yearly; The salary may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Software Engineer Job Responsibilities include:

• Review, analyze, and interpret functional requirements, business needs, and application use cases to support development efforts.

• Develop, code, configure, and test application features using COBOL and related technologies to meet business requirements.

• Write and optimize SQL queries and work with relational databases to support application functionality and data management.

• Participate in code reviews and design reviews to ensure adherence to development standards and best practices.

• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve application defects, performance issues, and technical problems throughout the development lifecycle.

• Create and maintain technical documentation, deployment impact analyses, and provide updates during project and client status meetings.

 

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; equivalent technical certifications may be considered.

• 2+ years of professional software engineering experience in application development and support.

• Strong proficiency in COBOL programming, SQL, and relational database management systems, with a solid understanding of SDLC processes.

• Experience in application design, coding, testing, troubleshooting, and technical documentation, with exposure to Agile methodologies, version control tools (Git/Subversion), and issue-tracking systems such as Jira.
