Sr. Project Manager

Akkodis is seeking a Sr. Project Manager for a Contract job with a client in Oakbrook Terrace, IL. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing large-scale initiatives from project initiation through successful completion while ensuring projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with business objectives.

Rate Range: $67/hour to $72/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Sr. Project Manager job responsibilities include:

• Lead and manage complex projects through all phases of the project lifecycle, including planning, execution, monitoring, control, and closure.

• Develop and maintain detailed project plans outlining scope, timelines, milestones, deliverables, resource requirements, and project dependencies.

• Direct cross-functional project teams and ensure alignment with project goals, business priorities, and organizational objectives.

• Assign tasks, monitor team performance, and provide leadership, guidance, and support to project team members throughout execution.

• Manage project budgets, forecasts, expenditures, and resource allocations to ensure projects remain within approved financial guidelines.

• Monitor project performance and proactively identify, evaluate, and mitigate risks, issues, and roadblocks.

• Communicate project status, risks, milestones, and key updates to stakeholders, senior leadership, and executive teams.

• Facilitate project meetings, status reviews, planning sessions, and stakeholder discussions to drive decision-making and maintain project momentum.

• Manage project documentation, including schedules, budgets, risk logs, status reports, meeting notes, and executive presentations.

Desired Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is required.

• Extensive experience managing complex, large-scale projects from initiation through successful delivery.

• Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, governance models, lifecycle management, and delivery frameworks.

• Experience developing project plans, schedules, budgets, forecasts, risk assessments, and stakeholder communication strategies.

• Proven ability to manage project risks, dependencies, issues, and corrective action plans in fast-paced business environments.

• Strong financial management experience, including budget planning, forecasting, cost control, and resource allocation.

• Experience preparing and presenting executive-level reports, dashboards, project updates, and status presentations.

• Proficiency with project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, Jira, Azure DevOps, Planview, or similar platforms.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience leading enterprise transformation, technology implementation, operational improvement, or business process optimization initiatives.

• Knowledge of Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid, and PMO project delivery methodologies.

• Experience managing vendor relationships, third-party service providers, and contract resources.

• Familiarity with portfolio management, program management, and organizational governance frameworks.

• Experience implementing project management best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.

Pay Details: $67.00 to $70.00 per hour
