System Administrator

Akkodis is seeking a System Administrator for a Contract with a client in Dallas, TX. The candidate must have strong production experience with AKS, NGINX Azure Managed Gateway API, and deep Azure CNI/Cilium networking expertise

Rate Range: $52/hour to $54/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

System Administrator job responsibilities include:

• Define and own the target reference architecture for greenfield AKS clusters while ensuring smooth, non-disruptive coexistence with existing environments.

• Lead the design and migration of NGINX Azure Managed Gateway API, including routing models, TLS/WAF strategy, and canary or weighted traffic cutovers.

• Architect and execute Azure CNI (Cilium) migrations, covering IP planning, subnet sizing, pod density, and service-by-service transition plans.

• Establish platform guardrails and standards across identity, secrets management, RBAC, Azure Policy, and multi-tenancy boundaries.

• Govern non-functional requirements such as SLOs, HA/DR, capacity modelling, and performance budgets for ingress and data planes.

• Drive delivery governance by defining roadmaps, cutover criteria, readiness gates, and mentoring Platform/DevOps teams on architectural compliance.

 

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

• 8+ years of overall platform or cloud engineering experience, including 4+ years of hands-on AKS and Kubernetes production experience.

• Proven experience leading NGINX Azure Managed Gateway API migrations and operating Gateway API in large-scale production environments.

• Strong expertise in Azure CNI (Cilium), including IP planning, subnetting, pod density, and zero-downtime cluster migration strategies.

Pay Details: $52.00 to $54.00 per hour
