Tool & Die Design Engineer

Akkodis is seeking a Tool & Die Design Engineer for a Contract with a client in Sterling Heights, MI. The ideal candidate with experience supporting machining processes, tooling development, and continuous improvement initiatives in high-volume manufacturing environments.

Rate Range: $42/Hour to $45/Hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Tool & Die Design Engineer Job Responsibilities include:

• Support machining operations through tooling development, optimization, and process improvements.

• Design and modify tooling to enhance manufacturing efficiency, quality, and productivity.

• Monitor tool performance and implement controls for critical machining features.

• Complete PPAP documentation and support production launches and quality initiatives.

• Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions using Lean, 8D, and problem-solving methodologies.

• Conduct process audits and drive continuous improvement projects focused on safety, quality, and cost reduction.

 

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma required; bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred.

• Minimum 5+ years of experience in machining, tooling engineering, or manufacturing operations.

• Strong experience in high-production machining tool manufacturing, tool design, tooling modifications, and machining process support.

• Hands-on experience with tool presetters (Royal/Zoller), PPAP, FMEA, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and root cause analysis methodologies.

Pay Details: $42.00 to $45.00 per hour
