Your Role

Akkodis is seeking an experienced Transmission Engineering professional to support the planning, analysis, design, and implementation of high-voltage transmission system projects. This role is responsible for evaluating transmission system performance, leading technical studies, developing engineering standards, and overseeing the design and construction of complex transmission infrastructure. The successful candidate will collaborate with internal teams, regulatory organizations, developers, consultants, and other stakeholders to ensure system reliability, regulatory compliance, and successful project delivery.

Salary Range: $105,000-125,000/Annually + Benefits + Bonus

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and validate transmission system models used for system planning and operational studies.

  • Conduct steady-state and dynamic system analyses to assess network performance and reliability.

  • Lead and execute transmission planning studies required to meet applicable NERC and ERCOT reliability requirements.

  • Participate in industry and regional planning organizations, including relevant ERCOT technical working groups.

  • Prepare technical and business justifications for transmission capital improvement projects and present recommendations to leadership and planning organizations as needed.

  • Provide technical support and responses to ERCOT requests associated with regional transmission planning initiatives.

  • Create, maintain, and recommend updates to transmission planning standards and related engineering guidelines.

  • Support the development and ongoing enhancement of transmission line design, equipment, and material standards.

  • Perform and review engineering calculations related to transmission line facilities, structures, and associated equipment.

  • Evaluate proposed load and generation interconnections and determine their potential impact on the transmission network.

  • Review transmission line designs prepared by internal teams, consultants, or external engineering firms.

  • Utilize engineering analysis and design software to support planning, design, and project development activities.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a closely related technical discipline.

  • One of the following:

  • Current Professional Engineer (PE) registration in the State of Texas; or

  • Eight years of directly related engineering experience; or

  • Six years of relevant engineering experience combined with a postgraduate engineering degree in a related field.

  • Valid driver’s license.

  • Demonstrated experience with electric power transmission systems and engineering analysis.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience participating in ERCOT planning and technical working groups.

  • Knowledge of PUCT Certificate of Convenience and Necessity (CCN) processes.

  • Experience supporting transmission planning, design standards development, and large-scale transmission projects.

Additional Skills:

  • Strong understanding of transmission system planning, analysis, and reliability principles.

  • Knowledge of transmission line components and materials, including structures, foundations, insulators, anchors, and related equipment.

  • Proficiency with engineering software, computer-based modeling tools, and data management systems.

  • Ability to read, interpret, and review transmission design drawings and technical documentation.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to identify issues and develop practical solutions.

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

  • Ability to build productive relationships with customers, regulators, consultants, developers, and internal stakeholders.

  • Commitment to delivering high-quality work while maintaining compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Ability to coach and support the development of other engineering professionals.
