Zurich, Switzerland, January 17, 2024 – Akkodis, a global digital engineering company and Smart Industry leader, is proud to have worked with the winning team of students of the Analytics Lab (A-Lab) at the MIT Initiative on the Digital Economy (IDE). The A-Lab is the IDE's flagship educational offering, where students use analytics, machine learning, and other methods to solve real-world business problems – culminating in a pitch day of more than 20 teams presenting the semester’s work to a panel of judges.

As part of their project, Akkodis and the MIT IDE students provided a European municipality with additional insights on how to rethink urban mobility by leveraging the transformative power of digital technologies, advanced analytics, and comprehensive transport data-sharing. The ultimate goal was to achieve a modal shift towards sustainable urban mobility.

The students based their analysis on data from the European Union-funded MobiDataLab initiative, a platform for European cities to share transport data. Akkodis is the project and technical coordinator of MobiDataLab, as well as the leader of the expert committee and the data management team.

"We are excited to be a part of the MIT Initiative on the Digital Economy and work with the Analytics Lab to help develop new solutions that enable cities to achieve their sustainable mobility goals." said Jan Gupta, President of Akkodis. He continued, "At Akkodis, we are committed to connecting the brightest minds in tech to pioneer new ways of solving some of the world’s biggest challenges – we’re passionate about Engineering a Smarter Future Together.”

"The A-Lab is about using advanced analytics, machine learning and other methods of analysis to diagnose, enable or uncover solutions to real-world issues and opportunities,” said Sinan Aral, Director at the MIT IDE and Co-Instructor of the A-Lab. “At the IDE, we believe our research is shaping a brighter digital future. We were excited to work with Akkodis to craft a meaningful project and commend the MIT Sloan students for forwarding the development of new approaches that will help cities achieve their sustainability goals."
