Accountability by Design
Writing for Forbes Technology Council, Akkodis President and CEO Jo Debecker says the shift from generative to agentic AI, where systems act on behalf of the business rather than assist employees, turns AI capability into a question of authority, accountability and trust. Citing Akkodis’ “What CTOs Think” research, in which 57% of CTOs already use AI or analytics to allocate tasks between humans and machines but only 36% are satisfied with workforce trust in their organization’s AI direction, he calls for “accountability by design.” That means treating agents as a new class of enterprise identity, defining what each can access, decide and modify, and specifying when it must seek human approval. In his view, human oversight belongs where risk and accountability intersect, as in Akkodis’ Söze investigative platform, where decision points remain deliberate handovers to people.
"AI may execute tasks at unprecedented speed, but accountability remains a human responsibility."
— Jo Debecker, President & CEO, Akkodis
